Nathan Herrera has been playing guitar since the age of 15. Mr. Herrera's mother and father, his first teachers, introduced him to flamenco and Spanish guitar through the recordings of the great guitar maestros. Mr. Herrera went on to receive a bachelors degree in guitar performance with a concentration in composition from Florida Southern College under the direction of Dr. Mark Switzer. He has pursued his passion through master classes with Pepe Romero, LA Guitar Quartet, Adam del Monte, and Oscar Guzman. Mr. Herrera has also studied flamenco guitar and percussion in Seville, Spain with the accomplished guitarist Juan Nunez. He has also studied locally with guitarist Jose Maria Moreno, in Miami with Paco Fonta, and recently with maestro Juan Diego. In addition to enjoying success in performing solo and with various dance companies, Mr. Herrera has also made appearances in local television programs, commercials and magazines.

Herrera's beginning studies began with a deep involvement in classical composition and performance. Through both his influence and inspiration by Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo, Manolo Sanlucar, he has irresistibly returned to his Sephardic (Judeo-Spanish) roots. Through his study of musical composition and exploration of various didactic forms, Herrera has been able to incorporate these skills into a wide variety of styles and techniques for flamenco. The eclectic nature of this music reveals new melodic structures and diverse textures building a style that compliments traditional and modern gypsy flamenco; creative rhythmic renditions of standard flamenco forms: bulerias, tarantas, soleares, rumbas. Incredible complexities, but how harmoniously it all fits together. The music moves him deeply-he draws near to experience the beauty and the architecture of music, which seems truly divine, perhaps even changing his life.
