Kassi Abreu was born in Miami, FL and started training with Miami City Ballet at the age of nine.  She has attended many summer intensives including Chatuacqua Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, The Julliard School, and the Walnut Hill School.  In 2002, she was awarded a scholarship by The National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts.  She has been in the Central Florida area for 3 years dancing with Orlando Ballet, then Royal Celebration Ballet.  This is her second season with Florida Dance Theatre.


 

Ferdinand De Jesus, otherwise known as "Freddie," began his training at McArthur High School of Performing Arts.  He then continued his studies on merit scholarships at Alvin Ailey and also at the Dance Theatre of Harlem in New York City.  His extensive professional experience includes Dayton Contemporary Dance Co., Donald Byrd/The Group, Florida Dance Theatre, Philadanco, and most recently Bruce Wood in Dallas, TX.  Mr. De Jesus has also served as faculty at Rochelle School of the Arts, Florida Dance Theatre, Raskin Dance Studio, and Attitudes Dance Studio to name a few.  Mr. De Jesus is returning for his 10th season as a dancer with FDT and also serves as the Associate Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer.


Kelly McCulloch, originally from Tennessee, received her early training from Patricia Hill, then continued on to Nashville Ballet.  She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance Performance and Choreography from The University of Alabama, where she performed in several world premiere works including Cornelius Carter’s Myth of Migration.  She has previously performed with Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre, Evolution Danse, and Epiphany, the resident modern  company of Nashville Ballet, and worked with choreographers including Cornelius Carter, Edie Barnes, Richard Richards, Sonje Mayo, and John Summers.  Beyond her role as company dancer, Kelly also serves on the Administrative staff at FDT.  This is her fifth season with Florida Dance Theatre.



Emily Ricca trained at the Virginia School of the Arts under the artistic direction of Petrus Bosmon, Martha Faesi, and David Keener.  After graduating, Emily joined Ballets de San Juan as a member of the corps de ballet where she worked with many talented teachers and choreographers such as Ricardo Melendez, Violette Verdi, Jillana, and David Keener.  This is Emily’s third season with Florida Dance Theatre.



Kimberly Spencer recently graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance.  While in Tallahassee, she was a member of Dance Repertory Theatre, a modern company under the direction of Lynda Davis.  Kimberly received her earlier training from In His Image Christian Dance School and Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School, both in the Tampa area.  She attended numerous summer intensives including American Ballet Theatre and on scholarship at Boston Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, and Martha Graham Dance School.  Kimberly is making her professional debut in her second season with Florida Dance Theatre.
